Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure - Sunshine List 2019

The Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act, 1996 makes Ontario’s public sector more open and accountable to taxpayers. The act requires organizations that receive public funding from the Province of Ontario to make public, by March 31 each year, the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees paid $100,000 or more in the previous calendar year.

Every year, the Ontario government publishes its annual Sunshine List of public sector servants with six-figure salaries. According to the document, Finance's 374 staffers made the Sunshine List, earning total compensation of $44,460,550.95 in 2018.

Topping the list for the Finance was Deputy Minister Gergely Orencsak, who brought home $328,870.62 in 2018.

Following Gergely Orencsak was Associate Deputy Minister Mahmood Nanji, with annual earnings of $244,145.22. Assistant Deputy Minister/Chief Administrative Officer Helmut Zisser made $207,676.40, Assistant Deputy Minister, Provincial Local Finance Division Allan Doheny made $207,676.40, and Executive Lead, Cooperative Capital Markets Regulatory System Kathleen Ward round out the top-five highest-paid employees with $207,676.40 for the Finance 2019 Sunshine List.
